House Cross Country Event
Year 1 and Year 2
Well done to all the girls involved in Year 1 and Year 2 Cross Country – you did a fantastic job! It was a very frosty and extremely cold morning but the girls were all up for the Cross Country challenge and wanted to do well. All girls participated to the best of their ability and kept going the whole way around the course. It was wonderful to see girls at such a young age really test themselves and get involved with the spirit of winning for their Houses. Year 1 completed 2 laps of the field and Year 2 completed 3 laps of the field.
Special mention to the overall winner in year 1: Emilie Lumbard (3 Minutes and 6 seconds)
Special mention to the overall winner in year 2: Niamh Maddick (4 Minutes)
Both girls will receive a medal this week in assembly. Well done to you all! Miss Georgiou
Year 3 to Year 6
Once again it was a very wet and cold afternoon but the girls really sprung in to action and tried their best to achieve the quickest times possible around the course. Looking back at the results, most of the girls quickened their times. During our fitness sessions in PE, we have been trying to develop the girls’ fitness and it has been rewarding to note how most of the girls have progressed this year. Lowers and Middles completed 5 Laps of the field and Uppers and Tops completed 6 Laps of the field. The top girl from each year group will be invited to participate in the Inter-Schools Cross Country Competition next Wednesday 28 January at Bramley.
Fantastic effort from all the groups and a special mention must go to the Sports Captains:
Molly Nunn and Rowena Fogarty
These girls helped me all afternoon, taking charge and doing warm ups and stretches with each year group. They also encouraged all of the girls while they were running. They took responsibility setting up the course in the freezing cold and wet mud. Molly and Rowena also ran the course and carried on helping the rest of the groups and individuals throughout the competition. Well done to all the girls involved. The winners of each year group are as follows:
Lowers – Annie Gadd (7:05) Middles – Anya Hamilton (6:10)
Uppers – Madison Ladell (7:10) Tops – Maisie Williams (7:20)
Due to some injuries and absences, House points will be worked out and announced next week.
Thank you to you all! Miss Georgiou
Hockey Match Bramley vs Seaton House Away
Tuesday 20th January 2015
Tops Match: Drew 0-0
Well done to Tops. We didn’t have a full team but the girls played outstandingly for their first match of the year. Thank you Madison Ladell for stepping in and helping the girls. Even the parents and teachers involved commented on how challenging the game was. The score ended a 0-0 as both teams played really hard. All the girls played hard and a special mention must be made to Grace Caterham-Ashford for her good goal keeping. Also Molly Nunn for her continuous efforts trying to get the ball up the pitch to our attackers and defending well. Well done girls – onwards and upwards. Thank you so much to all parent helpers – we would not have got there without you!
Uppers Match: Lost 2-0
This was Uppers first ever Hockey match, representing Bramley. The girls did such a great job. It was very challenging as Seaton House had two very good forward players, but the girls all pitched in to ensure the score was kept down. By half time, the girls had worked out who they should look to pass the ball to and became more confident having a shot on goal. Special mention to Cerys Denny who volunteered to be in goal, was padded up and even though the smallest of the team, did a fantastic job keeping the score down. Cerys made some fantastic saves, stopping at least three balls from being scored. Milli Greener also really came out of her shell this game and attacked well going forward with confidence, setting up and nearly scoring a goal herself. It was a great team effort.
Well done girls, so proud of you. Thank you to all the parent helpers. Miss Georgiou
