Maia and Maisy, both in Middles, had great success in the recent National Championships – congratulations to them both.
Here is what hey both had to say about the experience:
On Thursday the 27th of November, I travelled up to Liverpool by train, with my mum for 4 ½ hours. I was on my way to my 1st national testing, and my 2nd national tournament.
When we arrived at the hotel (the crown plaza) I was extremely tired, and happy to flop down on the bed when we entered our room. I was so excited about the testing and tournament!
The next day I had my national testing at Greenbank sports academy. There were a couple of hundred people testing, and the grand master was watching us. It was an amazing experience!
The day after that on Saturday the 29th of November, I had my national tournament back at Greenbank. I was in the 9-11 DBN group (DBN means black belt candidate) with 14 people who I was against. The 1st category I was in was Forms, (kicks and hand strikes put into a sequence) where I won Bronze; the 2nd category was Staff (using a long pole) where I also won Bronze; the 3rd Category was Techniques where I won Silver (one point away from Gold!); the 4th Category was Sparring (unfortunately I didn’t win a medal), but I had a brilliant time!!
At the end of our section of the tournament, Maisy Nunn and I asked for our medals to be signed by the Grand Master!
I went to Liverpool for Kuk Sool championships. It was awesome! I got a bronze medal for techniques. There were so many people there, almost 500 I think!
Kuk Sool is my hobby so I was really happy to get a medal! I am a red belt which is nearly a black belt.
I love Kuk Sool, the person who teaches me used to work at Bramley.
