Admissions

Following the recent announcement about the creation of Banstead Prep School you are welcome to visit us here at Bramley to get a feel for our school and hear more about the amazing opportunities that will be on offer for girls and boys  at Banstead Prep from September 2017.

There will be an Open Morning taking place at Banstead Prep on Saturday 20th May and we would be delighted to welcome you there.   If you would like to attend, please visit www.bansteadprep.com to book a place online.

The usual points of entry are at Little Bramley and Reception (for girls aged ‘rising three’, 3 and 4 years of age). Please note girls must attend Little Bramley for a minimum of 3 mornings per week. Another main point of entry is in to Lowers (Year 3 – at the age of 7 years). We do however, admit girls into other year groups if space is available.

We are very happy to welcome prospective parents and their daughters at other times during the term. On these occasions parents are given a tour of the School and the opportunity to meet with the Headmistress.

Just a few miles from Junction 8 of the M25 our pupils come from all around – Kingswood, Chipstead, Epsom, Leatherhead, Ashtead, Banstead, Dorking and Reigate.

Bramley School is an inclusive school.

Entry into Little Bramley or Reception is not based on a selection process.

The Admission process is as follows:

Call and register your interest, give relevant details.

Arrange a suitable time to visit. These visits are normally booked at 9.30am during the week. When you visit, you will be given our current Information Booklet, which includes our Registration Form. You will also be given a selection of Bramley Broadcast, our termly magazine, which highlights events, activities and information from previous terms.

If you wish to register your daughter, you will need to complete the Registration Form and return it to the School Office together with a non-refundable registration fee of £250. This ensures that your daughter is registered, however, if a place is not available at that time, it places your daughter on a waiting list.

Your daughter will be invited to Bramley to spend the morning with her peers and teacher during the term before she is due to start at Bramley. You will then attend a short meeting afterwards to discuss her morning.

Once your daughter has joined Bramley School, a retained deposit of £300 will be added to your first term’s fee invoice. This deposit is kept by the School and any extras due at the end of your daughter’s final term will be deducted from this amount and the balance returned to you.

Entry into any year from Year 1 to Tops requires the completion of a Registration Form and includes an informal assessment visit by your daughter.  She will join her class for a day and be assessed during lesson time.

The Assessment process is as follows:

An Assessment Visit; there is no specific preparation required for this day.

The aim of the process is to identify potential. We are looking for well-rounded pupils with a genuine interest in education in the broadest sense of the word, with interests that stretch beyond the confines of the academic curriculum.

Bramley has strong traditions in Music, Drama, Art, public speaking, community activities and Sport. There are many extra-curricular activities, all of which are important in developing a well-balanced, confident individual.

If you wish to pursue a place at the School, and there is a place available in the appropriate year, a mutually agreed day will be arranged for your daughter to visit.

The assessment visit for all years is designed to see pupils interacting with their peers in a normal school setting. All pupils in Years 1 – Tops (6 -11 years of age) will be informally assessed in English and Mathematics during the day.At the end of this day, the Headmistress will meet you to discuss the day. It may not be possible to offer a place at this meeting as the Headmistress may not have received feedback from teaching staff and reports, for example.

If a pupil is suitable and a place is available then an offer will be made.
