Our Prep Department (age 7 - 11)

Our Prep curriculum follows the National Curriculum and extends to cover the requirements of Common Entrance and Senior School Examinations, which the girls sit at the age of eleven.

This broad curriculum includes English, Mathematics, Science, Information Communication Technology (ICT), French, History, Geography, Design Technology, Music, Art, Physical Education and Games. We also have a strong Personal, Social, Health Education and Citizenship programme.

Prep pupils are taught by specialist staff and enjoy the use of a dedicated Science Laboratory, ICT suite and well-resourced Library. Teaching Assistants are allocated to core curriculum areas and lessons are planned to allow teachers and assistants to extend the able children and to support those that require extra help. The high standard of facilities, along with expert teaching, enables each girl to make the most of every learning opportunity. A wide range of extra-curricular activities and sport allow each girl to follow her talents and interests outside the classroom.

  • Strong Pastoral Care
Each girl has a form teacher, responsible for her pastoral care. The girls report to their form teacher at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day for registration, reading and formtime discussion. This provides an opportunity for the girls to reflect on their learning and to check their homework diaries. Form teachers maintain an ‘open door’ policy so that parents can speak to them whenever the need arises.

  • Achieving Potential
We are passionately committed to ensuring each of our pupils achieves her full potential. As each girl progresses through the school she is carefully monitored and is given individual attention in terms of both academic and social development.

We have a strong system of team points and merits and dedicate assembly time to celebrate achievement in all aspects of school life. We keep parents in touch with their daughter’s progress with ‘interim grades,’ pupil reports and parents’ evenings.

  • Progressing To Senior School
Teachers consult with parents at an early stage to ensure that each girl is fully prepared for the senior school of their choice. Bramley girls progress to schools such as Nonsuch High School For Girls, Wallington High School, Sutton High School, Reigate Grammar, Woldingham, Benenden, St Teresa’s, Caterham, Box Hill, Dunottar and Greenacre.
