The curricular subject of ICT provides pupils with a learning tool for participation and full involvement in an ever-changing, technologically advancing world. It is therefore our aim with in the ICT department at Bramley that all pupils have full access and use of our up-to-date ICT resources throughout their time at the School. Children will learn to present, find, analyse, explore and exchange information both responsively and creatively.

All pupils from 3-11 years at Bramley have weekly lessons covering all aspects of the ICT National Curriculum. As well as subject, age range and ability specific programmes, the ICT department utilises the full range of Microsoft Office components for word processing, desktop publishing, presentation and spreadsheet software. Lessons with the ICT specialist allow them the opportunity to develop further their own knowledge, skills and understanding.

Pupils from Reception upward also have access to supervised and controlled sites on the Internet with regular lessons on E-safety. Children prepare information for development, select suitable sources, classify, interpret and check. Pupils may also be brought to the dedicated ICT suite by their subject teacher in order that other curricular subjects may be taught using the PCs and relevant software. They are taught to review, modify and evaluate their own work as it progresses.

The network has been extended into every classroom so that network resources may be accessed more easily using interactive whiteboads. Learning across the curriculum is greatly enhanced by this resource. The School has purchased digital video and sound recording equipment to promote the quality and range of ICT projects in which the children can engage. In addition, state-of-the-art Apple software is used for multi-media work with video, sound and website design. Supervised computer clubs are held during lunchtime for pupils between Lowers and Tops.
